Il Municipio

Quando all’inizio dell’Ottocento il Palazzo Vecchio apparve inidoneo alle nuove necessità del Comune, si provvide non alla costruzione di un edificio ex novo, ma all’adattamento di alcune case affacciate su Piazza San Michele. La Torre d’angolo, dei Malasemenza, che ospitava le carceri, doveva essere tagliata per essere incorporata nell’edificio. Alla fusione delle diverse strutture venne applicata la facciata che caratterizza il Municipio, ma, per fortuna, la Torre non fu abbattuta. Un particolare curioso: nel Seicento ospitava le carceri e alla sua base vi era la gogna ove venivano messi alla berlina i furfanti.

The New Town Hall
When at the beginning of the nineteenth century the old Town Hall appeared unsuitable for the requirements of the municipality, these were met not by building a new edifice but rather by adapting several existing houses overlooking  San Michele  Square.  The corner tower, of the Malasemenzas’, which housed the prisons, had to be lowered to be incorporated in the building.  The facade which characterizes the current town hall was added to unify the structures and, fortunately, the tower was not demolished.  A curious detail: during the seventeenth century the tower housed the prisons and at its base was the pillory where prisoners were publicly ridiculed.

El Ayuntamiento
Cuando a principios del siglo XIX el “Palazzo Vecchio” resultó inadecuado a satisfacer las necesidades del Ayuntamiento, no se construyó un edificio nuevo, sino que se adaptaron algunas casas que daban a la Plaza San Miguel. La Torre de los Malasemenza, ubicada en la esquina, estaba destinada a ser cortada para incorporarla al edificio. Las diferentes construcciones fueron unidas y se les aplicó la fachada característica del Ayuntamiento, pero por suerte la Torre no fue abatida. Una curiosidad: en el siglo XVII la Torre alojaba la cárcel y a sus pies se encontraba la picota utilizada para castigar a los malhechores.

La Mairie
Au début du XIXème siècle le “Vieux Palais” est apparu inapte aux nouveaux besoins de la Ville. On n’a pas pris, toutefois, des mesures à l’égard de la construction d’un bâtiment “ ex novo “, mais on pourvoit à l’adaptation de certaines maisons qui donnaient sur la” Piazza San Michele” . La Tour à l’angle, de la famille” Malasemenza”, qui abritait les prisons, a d? être abattue pour être incorporée à l’édifice. Au croisement des différentes structures est appliquée la façade, qui caractérise la Mairie, mais, heureusement, la Tour n’a pas été démolie. Un détail curieux: au XVII siècle, cette structure abritait  les prisons et au fond il y avait la « gogna » où les vauriens étaient cloués au pilori.
